Welcome to a new decade.

As we say goodbye to another year, most of us set new intentions or resolutions for the New Year. I am writing to help explain and hopefully inspire you to make your skin care and self care a top priority!

Let’s bring in this New Year with beautiful, healthy, glowing skin together.

Let the following 5 tips from your professional aesthetician bring you into the New Year simply glowing.

  1. Cleanse both morning and night – cleansing helps to remove makeup, impurities and environmental pollutants from the skin. Sleeping with makeup on can lead to congested pores, acne and premature aging. Be sure to remove makeup thoroughly and use a cleanser that would benefit your specific skin type.

We have several fantastic options for cleansing products in our office. Dr. Connolly has formulated a full medical grade product line for all of your needs.

  1. Hydration is key – drinking plenty of water will definitely help improve the appearance of the skin.  Also, using a nourishing gentle moisturizer daily will help deliver hydration and make your epidermis happy.
  2. Protect from the sun – we recommend using a sunscreen especially on the face 365 days a year. It is so important to protect from the harmful rays of the sun which could lead to pre-cancerous lesions, skin cancer, hyper-pigmentation and aging. Elta MD is one of my personal favorites for both face and body sunscreen. It is mineral based, non-comedogenic and ultra hydrating.
  3. Exfoliate – It is wise to exfoliate 3-4 times per week at home with a gentle product. You may use a fine grit exfoliant like a scrub or a chemical exfoliant such as glycolic or salicylic acid (if oily). If you are looking to make improvements with your skin’s tone, texture and overall appearance come and visit our office to meet with myself or one of our Medical Providers for a cosmetic consultation. We would be thrilled to help you achieve your goals. We have a very realistic and natural approach to cosmetics, and we always have your wants and needs in mind.
  4. Massage – when applying your serums and moisturizers try to be intentional about giving yourself a light facial massage. Taking the time to do this will improve circulation and help drain lymphatic fluids which can decrease puffiness and improve the skin’s elasticity.
